Long Trail Brewing founders.

In the heart of Vermont’s Green Mountains, Long Trail Brewing Company is a destination where craft beer and adventure meet. Inspired by Vermont’s legendary 273-mile Long Trail, the brewery has been crafting trail-worthy beer since 1989, welcoming locals and travelers alike to enjoy great beer in an authentic Vermont setting.

From Humble Beginnings to a Vermont Original

Long Trail Brewing began when founder Andy Pherson set out to create a high-quality, American-made craft beer inspired by classic European styles. The first batches were brewed in the basement of the Old Woolen Mill in Bridgewater Corners, when the operation was originally known as Mountain Brewers. That early passion helped create what would become a Vermont staple—Long Trail Ale®, a smooth, approachable altbier that quickly earned a loyal following across New England.

A Must-Visit Stop for Beer Lovers & Travelers

Today, Long Trail Brewing Company is both a respected regional brewery and a popular Vermont beer tourism destination. Conveniently located at the crossroads of Route 4 and Route 100A, the brewery is an easy stop for road-trippers, leaf peepers, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts exploring central Vermont. Visitors can enjoy flagship favorites, seasonal releases, and the relaxed atmosphere of the brewery’s Riverside Pub, set along the Ottauquechee River.

Where Long Trail Is Today

Now part of the Harpoon Brewery (Mass. Bay Brewing Company) family, Long Trail continues to honor its Vermont roots while reaching new audiences throughout the Northeast. The Bridgewater Corners brewery remains a welcoming gathering place—where great beer, mountain culture, and genuine Vermont hospitality come together.
